Finally got a chance to watch most of Sandman (still have episode 11 to watch) and I feel like it’s one of the best comic adaptations I’ve ever seen. The tone from the books is there as well as the morality plays, the questions about humanity and that heavy undercurrent of a question; what is life all about anyway?
The cast is remarkable and the production is unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something so grand in scale other than Game of Thrones. There are a few flimsy moments in the CGI but really, that’s me just being a nitpicky arse.
The story structure is well written. I feel like we are given a bit more of the tale to some of the characters which only serves the end result in a more pleasing manner.
My only complaint: I need more of Death. Her performance and embodiment of the character was intoxicating. I could NOT stop smiling when she was on the screen. Fantastic.
I’ve now begun the process in reading the comics. I’d read a lot of the books when they first came out and I’ve re-read specific issues over and over but I’ve never actually read each and every issue.
I’m making amends to that end now.

Some thoughts on AI Art from an artist:
Not all AI art is bad. In other words; not all AI apps have art thieves in their midst.
That being said, there are ART THIEVES in the AI art world. And, yes, lawsuits being driven against, at least to my knowledge, one of those companies involved in art theft. My point here is if you are going to use an AI app, maybe do a little research before using the app so you know wether or not it is stealing art from other artists before using the app freely, and without payment to those artists it stole from.
There are possibilities that AI art can be used as a tool for other artists, as long as that tool isn’t involving the theft of art. Otherwise, we are eventually making artists obsolete.
There are some voices from prominent figures saying that the uprising of voices against AI art is too loud.
I say those voices aren’t nearly loud enough.
AI art is like any other tool; we need to use it respectfully and with care else we stumble upon destroying the thing from whence that tool came.
Do you see?
We can’t have AI art without ART. And computer generated art is only ever going to be so inventive that eventually it will become stale. Easy to point out. And largely disappointing. I ask you; when someone draws something from their mind, are you less impressed with that drawing, and more impressed with a computer’s ability to create an image based off the borrowing of other artists hard work, years of training and ingenuity? Especially if the theft of the original art is involved in that equation?
AI art largely needs some form of Law of Practices attached with it or else the results are going to be catastrophic. Unless the program comes with strict adherences.
That all being said: if you chose to use AI, please do so with the knowledge of the app you have chosen to use, who made it, and how it’s being used by that company. Do at least a small amount of work so that those who made the work in the first place don’t suffer any further.

I need to follow more comic creator folks!
If you make comics, published, unpublished, for fun, for a career, or whatever, I wanna follow you.
You can follow me back too but it’s not a prerequisite.
Be well and be good to yourself and others!
Oh, and if you can? Share this so it gets around to more creators?
Many, many thanks.
I’ve been given the official thumbs up to post a few of the pages for the short story I’ve done the art for in the upcoming Negative Space Anthology!
This is one of the pages that was previously shared through the successful crowd funding campaign! It’s page one of the story written by @ominouspowers, all art by me!
Personally, Im very excited about this story getting published because I learned how to color my comics work on this job using Procreate. A feat I never thought I’d learn how to do. I was so scared of not only the tech side of things (this entire comic was made digitally) but of how to create a workable color palette.
I’m really happy with the results and I can’t wait for people to read the story. Ominous Powers has some cool stuff coming on the horizon and this short story is one of them. If you haven’t checked out Negative Space’s site, give them a gander. The anthology should be out early next year!
